2011 a year full of..... Injuries, fun and firsts!

As You can see 2011 started off great on the floor of a bathroom by what it looks like a slightly heavy night. Or it was for the release of CTRL Wakeboards and when your slightly behind on posting something in the easier ideas seem to get taken first. This is what my friends and I came up with...

Or they just caught me on an off night out ;)

Apart from that I started off the season working hard on getting my shoulder moving and strong again. During my recovery I got frozen shoulder which prevented me from moving on so I had to go back in to get a fluid injected into my joint. Felt like someone was blowing me up like a balloon, very weird.

Not a great time being injured whilst everyone is out there riding and having fun, but a friends tattoo always makes me smile. As it is slightly embarrassing having this on your body I can't mention no names....ASHLEY TEMPLEMAN

Having all my hair over the winter started to get a little too much and slightly annoying soo I decided I'm having short hair from now on!

A pre season warm up is always good at the LDB Wake School, this is where I got back onto the water for my first time, felt soo good. Cold! but good :)

Classic LDB Smile

After riding a bit more in the UK I took a trip to Holland to meet the Guys at Protest, my newest sign. Such an awesome company!

www.protest.eu

Protest had actually organised a trip to Florida for us where the whole International team came.
We got to ride heaps at McCormick's in Tampa. Lefty cable but was actually amazing once you get past the first couple of days and start relaxing with it.

Always good to meet some of my yankee friends, Donald and I went for a few hours and many miles shredding our long boards. Now thats Cardio!

Wakeboarding is not always as glamorous as Florida, Trust me I've done a few rough nights.
In the back of Matt Crowhurst's Relentless (literally), big red bus!

Ok it's a lie it's Glamorous! We get to meet women like this!
Shotgun!

This was over a weekend I manage to be at home and have free. The Horse races, full of getting up early having beers, shots and what not from 7 ish. These are the messiest guys you will ever meet!

My first Wedding!
Matt and Sophie got married I had the privilege to be invited, it was the most romantic day ever!!!

Serbia, Europeans

There was more that went on but I couldn't wait to explain how good yoga is!
In America I went for my first class with Marc and Mumma Shuster, it was Bikram Yoga and I tell you, it is NOT easy at all me and Marc walked out 3 times and Ros stayed in for the whole session!
Props Ros

Last and not least I think I could solidly say it's also been the year for Reach films

WhaTevaaaaaa Blue line System 2 Park

Friday

Matt and myself woke up at 4am a little earlier than we had to for our 7:30am flight but COD, Zombies got a few games. Round 8 now guys I know your impressed. But before this I made 'THE' perfect poached eggs if I must say so myself! Great way to start the day.
We arrived in Holland at around 10am and was picked up by Barbara from PROTEST BOARDWEAR we headed to the warehouse to check out the team behind the scenes and all that goes on. Very Impressive. I didn't realise the amount of stages that go into the designing of the clothing, a lot of hard work!
Lunch at the cable was very fulfilling, the Aussie Burger, should have been called the Aussie cow.
Amazing anyways.
We met up with CK Koester, Declan Clifford, Sim Bradley and Freddie Carter who were also out the for the TEVA Blue line System 2 Park Launch.
A late night shred session was a perfect way to finish the day and use up that last bit of energy I had.
SLEEEP

Saturday

Early.....ish start down at the lake to get sorted for the day. In the Qualifying round sI decided to have a ride in the event as I was there filming. So I picked my first challenge out of the hat and what are the chances I pick Freddie Carter one of the three english in the whole event sweet luck aye. Unfortunately Fred fell and I went through. I made the finals and ended up going for a 3rd/4th ride off with CK Koester another English lad. CK making the 3rd spot riding sick all round pressing and nice off axis 180 off the kicker.
The Demo was put as a competition to spice things up and make it better for the public to watch and follow the outcome.

1st Dirk Gideonse
2nd Ricky Lukassen
3rd Ck Koester
4th James Young

stoked considering I'm not quite at full strength :)

After the event you could say we all hit it hard and went straight to the bar and cruised through a reasonable amount before hitting the town of Utrecht.

From here on I'll write when I can remember the happenings ;)

Minsterworth water ski club Coaching Weekend

This weekend I got to spend time coaching at Minsterworth Waterski Club. The 2 days couldn't have turned out any nicer, with it being the hottest weekend yet!
I arrived there Saturday morning stocked up with Relentless Energy and CTRL boards for everyone to drink and check out. I met Rob Bartley at his house, loaded up the car got heaps of fuel for the boat and then set off to the club to prepare for the weekend. On the Saturday we had the hotter day with myself burning my forehead and having a red head for a couple of days still feel it now!

Saturday's ride was a good number there was Rob, JJ, Brendan and Justin. All of them were keen to get on the water and learn some new stuff. Rob rode first and he stuck the smoothest roll to revert he has ever done. JJ new to wakeboarding tried a couple of boards and once he had a good size and a bit of instruction his board control improved heaps. Brendan getting a lot smoother approaches and popping of the wake nice. Justin getting soo close to his 3's, very close they'll be in the bag soon!

Sunday consisted of 5 riders one of which being a girl. Zoe was improving on her approach and turns making a wake jump at the end of her set and looking more controlled on her toeside. Taggart started of with the idea that he had to kill the wake by hitting it as hard as he could, after slowing him down and sorting out his board angle and edge he was hitting the wake a lot better and more controlled. This well help him in the future learning new tricks, a good stepping stone. Kieran riding well sticking a backroll in his set and improving on his half cabs, taking a bit of a fall on it at the end but overall a decent improvement. On Kieran's last set he got a massive pop and almost got close to a front roll. Ross rode sick through out the whole day with a variation of spins, very consistant! Ross tried few 5's and got very close. On his last set we pressured him to going upside down, we slowed the boat and moved to make the wake cleaner and larger. Ross in 3 attempts landed on his board, that's one to nail in his next set. Rob was riding well the whole 2 days and after getting on my board he stuck 2 out of 2 of his 3's which he says he was struggling with, I think he was lying!

All in all the weekend was heaps fun Thanks a lot guys and girls for having me.

Nice work!!!
